Enjoy views over the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia in Tuscany from this sensitively restored large group villa with hotel-style facilities in designer villa where each room has it’s own something and Tuscan to taste.
Villa is located in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, surrounded by greenery, with excellent management. The villa itself is stunning, and the owner is an interior designer, which really shows in the details and atmosphere.
Considered by many the top spot in Tuscany, the stunning Val d’Orcia provides mesmerising views across rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves, all of which can be enjoyed from the Villa.
These are the views that appeared on our screens in the Oscar-winning movie The English Patient and in the countryside scenes in Gladiator. And dotted amongst these spectacular landscapes are some of the region’s most enchanting towns and villages.
It’s just a short drive from Villa to the vineyards around Montalcino and Montepulciano, and to the captivating towns of San Quirico d’Orcia and Pienza. Across the border in Umbria, must-see towns include Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto and Perugia, while further afield in Tuscany are the legendary cities of Florence and Siena.
The villa is also well placed for golfers, with 3 golf clubs located within an hour or so by car: the 9-hole Val di Chiana and Lamborghini Panicale Golf Clubs, and the 18-hole Perugia Golf Club.
Tuscan tradition meets contemporary style
This is traditional Tuscany at its best. The original stone structure of the villa remains unchanged, but step inside and you’ll find contemporary furniture and top-spec fittings that blend perfectly with the original beamed ceilings and arched doorways. Colour palettes veer from cool neutral stone to warm shades of burnished terracotta, in perfect harmony with the natural materials and original features on show throughout the villa.
The villa is packed with furniture and furnishings that have been conceptualised, designed and manufactured by the interior designer owners, from the handmade soaps and olive oil to the embroidered towels and bathrobes.
Captivating views from the garden
Overlooking the surrounding hills, the stone-built property sits on 3 acres of private land, with over 900m² of outdoor space. The highlight is the pool area, comprising a 16m infinity pool with breathtaking views and a furnished sundeck. A jacuzzi, set in decking alongside the pool, is the perfect spot to catch the sunset.
To the rear of the villa, an expansive terrace provides several seating areas. There is also an outdoor dining terrace with views through a row of cypress trees to the valley beyond. A kitchen garden close to the main entrance provides vegetables and salad stuffs that are available to guests.
Main villa with large-scale living space and separate annexe
The entrance to the property is along a private driveway to a parking area with capacity for 4 cars. There is a second parking area at the rear of the property. The villa comprises a main property and a separate annexe.
The principal living space is on the ground floor of the main villa and is designed to accommodate large groups. This generously sized ground floor is divided by a series of archways separating the rooms, but still has a convivial sense of shared space. The welcoming living room features atmospheric lighting and plenty of sofas and armchairs, and there’s a separate reading room with an elegant fireplace.
A traditional Tuscan kitchen, with putty-coloured walls, is superbly equipped with all mod cons but also features an open-fire grill for cooking meats and fish, complemented by an additional wood-fire grill area outside. The dining room sits to the side of the kitchen, with a stunning rectangular wooden table that seats up to 14. A door from the dining room leads to the covered dining area in the garden.
Extending over 2 floors, the annexe offers a delightful additional independent facility, with 3 ground-floor bedrooms. On the first floor, a large open space is designed as a multi-purpose games room, with gym equipment, a relaxation area, bar and kitchenette.
